Quarterly Book Report Assignment
General Guidelines:
1. Choose a book
at least 60 pages in length unless we give you special permission
2.
Complete the project according to the directions for each quarter.
There will be a different theme and activity for each quarter
(see below for instructions and due dates by quarter)
3. Write a brief summary about the book.
This is to be done for each book report.
This is to be hand written.4. Bring the completed project, summary, and the book to school on the due date.
CURRENT ASSIGNMENT2nd Quarter Book Report: Due Date: Thursday, January 15
Focus: Influential Americans (nonfiction)
Details: Read a biography or an autobiography about any historical or modern day American
Project: Time line:
Illustrate and label a time line on
the person's life. Choose 6 important events besides the birth and
death (some may still be living) of the person. There should be 7 to 8
events on the time line. Paper will be provided.

since we don't often carry more than one copy of a particular title,
these books are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so the
sooner you begin your search for the right book, the better!

3rd Quarter Book Report: Due Date: Thursday, March 19
Focus: Friends (fiction)
Details: Read a fictional book about characters that are friends
Project:
Using a hanger, make a mobile that gives the title, author and setting
on the cover of the hanger. Then hanging down from the hanger have two
pictures about your favorite scenes and in the middle have a picture of
the main characters with labels.

4th Quarter Book Report: Due Date: Thursday, May 14
Focus: Adventure (fiction or nonfiction)
Details: Read any fiction or nonfiction book about an adventure
Project: Create a showbox diorama to show your favorite scene or
setting of your book. Put the title of the book, author, title of the
scene, and your name on the top of your diorama.
COMPLETED ASSIGNMENTS1st Quarter Book Report: Due Date: Thursday, October 16
Focus: Animals (fiction)
Details: This can be any book about real animals or imaginary animals as main characters.
Project: Sequence Wheel: Construct a sequence wheel with 6-8
captions telling what happened in your story starting from the
beginning and carrying through to the middle and then to the end. Draw
illustrations to illustrate each caption that you wrote about using
colored pencils or crayons. In the center of the wheel use a brass
fastener to connect a circle with a pointer to put the title, author,
and your name.
